About FindMeFootball

Why I built FindMeFootball

I'm James McCall, the founder of FindMeFootball. I built it after running into an ordinary but frustrating problem as a parent and grassroots football coach. When my son wanted to join a football team, I struggled to find one. Not because clubs were not out there, but because there was no single reliable place to look. Trials were posted on club websites, Facebook and Instagram whenever someone remembered to put them up, and if I missed the post, my son could easily miss the opportunity.

I could not easily see what level a team played at, when it trained or whether it was taking new players without joining a group chat, asking around and hoping someone knew.

That is why I built FindMeFootball: one free place where grassroots clubs, tournaments, coaching and other football opportunities can be found, rather than being scattered across whichever platform happened to carry the post that day.

What FindMeFootball is

FindMeFootball is a free online community for grassroots football. Clubs can share information about their teams, trials and open days. Tournament organisers can list their events, and coaches and team managers can search by location, age group, format and level. Coaches and football schools can promote their services so families can find suitable support.

Where an organiser handles entries externally, the listing directs teams to the correct booking route.

FindMeFootball is free for people searching for grassroots football opportunities. Clubs and tournament organisers can also list their teams, events and open opportunities free. The aim is to make grassroots football easier to find and organise without putting another cost in the way.

Built for the grassroots football community

FindMeFootball is being built by people who understand grassroots football and the amount of time that families, coaches, organisers and volunteers give to it. The goal is to make useful opportunities easier to find, share and manage, without adding another cost or unnecessary admin.

Every club, tournament, coach and football service added makes the community more useful. It helps players find teams, coaches and team managers find the right opportunities, and organisers reach the people their events are for.

We want FindMeFootball to become the place people naturally turn to when they need to find something in grassroots football: useful, welcoming, straightforward to use and free for the community services described on this page.

Who I am

I run FindMeFootball alongside a small team. As a grassroots football coach and club welfare officer, I have direct experience of the challenges faced by families, coaches and volunteers.

Since 2007, I have also run London Homestays, where my team and I have helped thousands of international students find suitable accommodation in London. FindMeFootball is a very different project, but it draws on the same practical experience: bringing scattered information together and helping people find the right option.

Keeping children safe

Many of the opportunities listed on FindMeFootball involve children, so safeguarding is central to how the platform is run.

I am FindMeFootball's Welfare Officer and Safeguarding Lead. I have completed Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead training, have worked with schools and universities on student welfare and safeguarding, and serve as a welfare officer at a grassroots football club.

If you are concerned about a child's safety or welfare in connection with something listed on FindMeFootball, use our dedicated safeguarding reporting route or email safeguarding@findmefootball.com. Please do not use the general contact form for a safeguarding concern.

We take every report seriously and follow our safeguarding process, including referring urgent concerns to the appropriate organisation or authority where necessary.
